I have decided that there will always be some excuse on why I did not clean, some are legitimate while others are just to make you feel better that you didn’t clean. {I, ironically started this post 4 days ago and haven’t been able to post or really clean because Judah was sick and didn’t like being put down} Sadly, cleaning is a choice, at times I wish I HAD to clean because not cleaning would mean something tragic would happen so I would get it done. Unfortunately that is not the case you must have a resolve to clean or things will just be messy. Thankfully, my resolve has been rising lately and I have been getting better little by little.
On the last Messy Housewife post I made mention of a Pinterest cleaning tip I had tried that worked really well for me, so I thought I would share. If you have spent anytime at all on Pinterest you have probably seen what I am about to share, there are multiple people who have blogged about it and its magical powers, I am not sure which blog I first looked at but {this} is the one I pinned.
Basically, the gist of the cleaning thing is you take vinegar and the original blue Dawn mix it together and spray the mixture on the nasty ring around your tub, leave it for a little while, wipe it clean and viola! The nasty ring around the tub is gone. I was weary when I first decided to try this and our tub was BAD, I wish I had taken pictures because sure enough it worked, just like magic.
The directions say to use 1:1 ratio and to let it sit for two hours, I didn’t do either of those things. All I did was pour roughly a cup of vinegar into my squirt bottle, warmed it up for 30 seconds to a minute, added a few generous squirts of Dawn and then swirled it around. I sprayed a ton in the tub but I do not think I let the mixture sit for more than 30 minutes and then I literally just wiped it clean. I was blown away!
Well, there is my first tip to any of you, be wise with your time, do not waste the little time or energy you have scrubbing your tub or allow it to get gross (like I did) because you don’t like doing it. Instead let this wonderfully odd mixture to the muscle work and just rinse it clean, the hardest thing about this method is the smell.
Happy Cleaning!
That. Is. Awesome.
Thanks! That alone may be worth the hours I have spent on Pinterest.
